No. DentalCanvas only reads data from Open Dental. It cannot change, add, or delete any patient record, appointment, claim, or financial entry. The setup wizard walks you through connecting it in about two minutes.
Will it slow down our server or lock up OD?

No. DentalCanvas is designed to be lightweight — it reads data in the background without interfering with Open Dental. Most practices don't notice any difference in OD performance.
Does any patient data leave our network?

No. DentalCanvas installs locally. The AI features run on your machine, not in the cloud. No patient data is sent to any external service, period.
Which Open Dental versions does it work with?
